Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Bilal Academy. We are glad to begin another year with your family, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us.
This booklet sets out how the school runs — what tuition costs and when it is due, the daily schedule, how work is graded, and what we expect of students. Please read it with your child. Much of what keeps a school safe and calm comes down to small habits, and those are easier to keep when everyone knows what is expected.

Dates may change for weather, masjid events, or the sighting of the moon for Ramadan and Eid. Changes are announced by the office, and the website calendar is always the current version.
Attendance is counted per school day: a student who attends any class that Sunday is marked present for the day. Excused absences do not count against a student's attendance rate.
Every family has an account on the school website. Signing in shows your child's attendance and grades, report cards, your tuition balance, and the calendar.
The office issues your username and password. If you have children at the school and also teach here, you will receive two separate accounts, and each message says which one it is for. Forgotten passwords can be reset from the portal page. Please do not share your password — the portal shows your children's records.
Teachers may deduct points for late work. Students are expected to be respectful and courteous at all times; disrespect toward staff or other students is not tolerated. Horseplay — pushing, shoving, throwing things, or anything that disrupts the day — may result in suspension. Electronic games, toys and personal devices are not permitted; anything brought in will be held and returned to a parent at the end of the day. Students must respect school and other people's property, and damage should be reported at once. Where damage is wilful or careless, the student or parent may be asked to cover the cost of repair.
Where these expectations are not met we follow this sequence: name recorded; referred to the principal; loss of recess for older students; parents contacted; dismissal from school.
All students and staff dress modestly and decently, in keeping with the practices of the Islamic faith.
| Boys | Full or half-sleeve shirts, and bottoms covering the knee. No above-knee shorts, no caps worn backwards. |
|---|---|
| Girls | Loose, full-length garments — abaya, isdal, a full-length long-sleeved dress, or a long skirt — and a scarf covering the head adequately. No leggings, no body piercings. |
| Activities | Students may change into suitable clothing for after-school sports. |
Parents on site. Parents are not permitted inside the school or Islamic Center during school hours, other than for a medical need or an approved educational purpose. Adults moving through the building interrupt lessons and unsettle the children.
Much of what the school does depends on parents giving a few hours — classroom helpers, sports coaching, clean-up days, events, kitchen, transport. There is a place for almost any skill, and no minimum commitment.

The administration may issue bulletins revising these policies during the year. Bulletins are filed with the principal, shared by email and the Telegram parents' group, and posted on the noticeboard. These policies remain in effect for the school year, and the administration will use its discretion in matters affecting the educational environment.
We look forward to a good year together, in shaa Allah.
